Kids Camp offers young artists a fun place to explore, create and play while learning about famous artists, art history, and new techniques. Class sizes are designed to allow for more personalized instruction and group projects. Students will work with three different art educators during each week-long themed session learning three different lessons every day.


 

A Taste of Color

June 9 - June 13

Inspired by Pamela Carroll's exhibition The Beauty Inherent, students will create paintings using shapes and colors found in common fruits and vegetables.

Wild Animals & Fun Textures

June 16 - June 20

This week's challenge: use different textures to create three-dimensional wild animals. Fuzzy, slimy, feathery, scaley; anything goes! This project is inspired by Camryn Stephens' sculpture in the exhibition Taking Form.

 
 

Summer Colors & Mixed Media

June 23 - June 27

This week, students will create sandcastles, ocean scenes, and sunsets by combining several materials and bold, summer colors. Their inspiration? The bold colors used by contemporary artists featured in the exhibtion New Acquisitions

Art and Motion

July 14 - July 18

This week, student will experiment with different ways to express motion in two- and three-dimensional work. Each project is inspired by the exhibition Taking Form.  

 
 

From Realistic to Abstract

July 21 - July 25

Students will learn how to deconstruct a realistic painting into its essential components—shape and color—inspired by the work of Permanent Collection artist Charles Arnoldi.

 

Class space is limited. Registration closes at 2:00PM on the Thursday before each week or until filled.

Additional Class Information

Classrooms will rotate between three different instructors and students will take two 10-minute breaks each day and will have a 30-minute break for snacks. Snacks will not be provided, students are encouraged to bring their own. Students who arrive late to class will miss out on important steps and may be expected to catch up on their own. Out of consideration for our staff schedules, we ask that all students be picked up on time. BMoA reserves the right to charge a late fee of $1/minute after 10 minutes. Please refer to our class policies for more information regarding drop-off/pick-up, cancellations, and other program policies. Class space is limited.
