Kids Camp 2019 • Ages 6-11

Kids Camp offers young artists a fun place to explore, create and play while learning about famous artists, art history, and new techniques. Class sizes are designed to allow for more personalized instruction and group projects. Each week-long theme listed below will have students rotating between three different art educators, learning three different lessons every day.

The program concludes with a special exhibition featuring artwork from students participating in the Summer Art Camp program on Friday, August 2, 2019.


Still Life
June 10 - June 14
8:30AM - 12:30PM

Learn how to draw what you see. Students will study fun three-dimensional objects (not just fruit!) and translate what they see to paper while using several different drawing mediums and tools.

Color Theory
June 17 - June 21
8:30AM - 12:30PM

Explore the entire color spectrum with paint, pastels, and more while learning about complementary colors, tints, shades, and the concepts of color harmony.

Science and Art
June 24 - June 28
8:30AM - 12:30PM

Science and art are both approaches to understanding the world around us. Experiment with various unconventional mediums and tools and discover how science and art are related.

The Elements of Art
July 15 - July 19
8:30AM - 12:30PM

Master all seven elements of visual art: form, shape, line, color, value, space, and texture while also learning about the variety of different mediums and tools you can use to express each element.

Earth Explorers
July 22 - July 26
8:30AM - 12:30PM

Become an earth explorer by learning about different art forms from around the world and make your own works of art using found objects and materials found in the BMoA Sculpture Garden.

Surrealism
July 29 - August 2
8:30AM - 12:30PM

Break free of restrictions and create your own whimsical works of art using unexpected combinations of images and dream-like scenes, while learning about the history of the Surrealist Movement and artists such as Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, and more.

Class space is limited. Registration closes at 2:00PM on the Thursday before each week or until filled.
Please call the museum during business hours for walk-in availability.


Additional Class Information

Classrooms will rotate between three different instructors and students will take two 10-minute breaks each day and will have a 30-minute break for snacks. Snacks will not be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own. Students who arrive late to class will miss out on important steps and may be expected to catch up on their own. Out of consideration for our staff schedules, we ask that all students be picked up on time. BMoA reserves the right to charge a late fee of $1/minute after 10 minutes. Please refer to our class policies for more information regarding drop-off/pick-up, cancellations, and other program policies. Class space is limited.
