Tanya Ragir
"I have always been intrigued by the way in which form originates from and returns to an unseen source: the invisible interior." The invisible interior is an interior of correspondences in which a sculpture grows out of a set of inherent forms. Tanya Ragir has chosen two of the most compelling forms, the landscape and the human figure. Concerning the human figure she has written that the female form has been her focus as long as she has been sculpting. Ragir has always been devoted to the female form, an interest that evolved through her years as a dancer. It is an inward experience, looking out, that her forms take shape in a sort of stilled motion. This is what she means when she says her aim is to go beyond the surface creating an expression of the many thoughts and feelings she has had as a woman in a body.
