Art Camp 2010

Bring your children for a wonderful summer of artistic fun.

If you are looking for an educational and  fun activity to stimulate creativity in your children this summer, the Bakersfield Museum of Art's Art Camp is the perfect spot.

Under the direction of instructors, Brent Eviston and Vikki Cruz, 7-12 year olds will learn drawing, painting, sculpture and art history through imaginative projects in a creative environment. Classes are held Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. � noon at the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

Students will attend three, one hour-long classes per day with two short breaks between. Snack will not be provided, but students are allowed to bring their own food and drink.

In addition to Brent Eviston, Vikki Cruz, and Liz Sherwyn, guest instructors will be added to this year�s program in order to bring new ideas and experiences to the students. These guest instructors are professionals in the field of art and teaching both locally and in Los Angeles.

Drawing and Painting Week (1A and 2A)
Fundamentals of drawing and color theory

Design Week (1B and 2B)
Design elements such as color, repetition, printmaking,

Storytelling Week (1C and 2C)
Cartooning, communication through artwork, bookmaking

Creativity Week (1D and 2D)
Expression through color, abstract and experimental

Classes are held Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Bakersfield Museum of Art, 1930 R St. Campers may choose one to four weeks.
Class 1A: June 14-18
Class 1B: June 21-25
Class 1C: June 28-l July 2
Class 1D: July 5-9

Class 2A: July 12-16
Class 2B: July 19-23
Class 2C: July 26-30
Class 2D: August 2-6

There will be 2 art camp art shows this summer � Thursday, July 1 and Thursday, July 29

Class Fees
Non-Members: 1 week $90, 2 weeks $150, 3 weeks $210, 4 weeks $275
Members*: 1 week $80, 2 weeks $130, 3 weeks $185, 4 weeks $245

*In addition to reduced art class rates, a Bakersfield Museum of Art membership supports the visual arts and ensures continued art education programs in your community. Call the museum with details at 323-7219.

For the younger set, Side by Side, a class for toddlers and their parents or caregivers, is held daily from June 7 - June11.  Choose from 9 - 10 a.m. or 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.  Children ages three to six will learn a variety of art projects that can easily be replicated at home. Enjoy art activities with your children and watch them build important school readiness abilities such as social/language skills, problem solving, and kinesthetic awareness.Class fees are $60 for non-members, $50 for Bakersfield Museum of Art Members.
